Project ETHOS: A Free-to-Play Roguelike Twist

2K Games and 31st Union present Project ETHOS, a free-to-play hero shooter aiming to redefine the genre. Experience fast-paced, third-person action combined with the dynamic adaptation of roguelike elements.

What makes Project ETHOS stand out? It seamlessly integrates the constant adaptation of roguelikes with the unique abilities of hero shooters. Randomized "Evolutions" alter hero capabilities mid-match, forcing strategic adjustments. Transform your sniper into a close-quarters combatant or your support hero into a solo powerhouse!

Project ETHOS features two main modes:

• Trials: This signature mode challenges three-player teams against human and AI opponents. Collect Cores, choose your extraction time, and spend them on Augments (upgrades) to enhance future runs. Dying means losing your Cores. Join ongoing matches – see the remaining time before joining to assess the challenge.

• Gauntlet: A classic competitive PvP tournament mode. Fight through brackets, upgrading your hero with each victory. Elimination means waiting for the next round.

Level up by collecting XP shards, eliminating enemies, and completing map events.

How to Join the Playtest

Project ETHOS will receive regular updates based on community feedback. The playtest, running October 17th-21st, is open to players in select regions (US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy).

To participate: Watch participating Twitch streams for 30 minutes to receive a playtest key. Alternatively, sign up on the official website for future playtest opportunities.

Server maintenance will occur; check the official channels for updated server schedules:

31st Union's Debut

Project ETHOS marks the first major release from 31st Union, led by Michael Condrey (co-founder of Sledgehammer Games and Call of Duty veteran). His experience is evident in ETHOS's design.

While a release date is yet to be announced, 2K and 31st Union's unique marketing approach through Twitch and Discord will be a key factor in the game's success.
