The team behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, has made the difficult decision to end support for the game and shut down its servers. Despite an enthusiastic launch, the project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain player engagement due to low activity and a lack of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. The official reasons for the game's closure have not been detailed, but it's evident that the dwindling number of players was a significant factor. From late 2024 onwards, the game's concurrent player count never exceeded 200, and in the final days, it plummeted to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to close permanently on May 28, signaling the end of the game's journey. Initially, it captured the attention of genre enthusiasts, but it ultimately fell short of its potential, leaving fans to remember what could have been.
