A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has spanned nearly a decade, facing numerous delays. Initially started in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project, then codenamed "Joplin," was impacted by BioWare's focus shifting to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further delays resulted from a design shift away from the company's live-service game strategy.
Revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
