Digimon Alysion: A Story Mode in Pokemon TCG Rival

During the recent DIGIMON CON 2025 event, Bandai Namco unveiled exciting updates for the Digimon franchise, including the introduction of a new mobile trading card game called Digimon Alysion and further details on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Both announcements have sparked significant interest among fans eager to dive into new adventures within the beloved universe.

Digimon's New Mobile TCG Digimon Alysion Is In Development

On March 20, during the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream, Bandai Namco revealed Digimon Alysion, a new mobile TCG currently in development. This game aims to capture the essence of the Digimon franchise by allowing players to collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters, build decks, and engage in battles. Inspired by the success of other mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, Digimon Alysion seeks to expand its audience within the mobile gaming space.

What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players a narrative-driven experience alongside traditional and competitive gameplay. A newly released trailer showcased snippets of gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode, including new characters Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon named Gemmon.

While no official release date has been announced, Bandai Namco has hinted at an upcoming closed beta test, with more details to follow.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger More Details Revealed

DIGIMON CON 2025 also provided more insights into Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, key characters, and the unique abilities of several Digimon that will appear in the game. Notably, Hara confirmed the three starter Digimon for players to choose from at the beginning of the game: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all iconic characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime.

Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, the largest in the series to date. The new trailer highlighted some of these, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon. This surpasses the previous entry, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which featured 330 Digimon.

Hara also introduced the game's protagonists: Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who serve as secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization dedicated to uncovering threats to both humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, accompanied by her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. Central to the game's plot is the concept of time, with the protagonists navigating through different eras.

The event also showcased other exciting developments within the Digimon franchise, such as a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and an upcoming anime series titled Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these announcements, the Digimon franchise is poised for a vibrant future, and fans should keep an eye out for further updates throughout the year.
