The Witcher 4 Beta Test Invite Scam
CD Projekt Red Issues Warning
The Witcher 4's developer, CD Projekt Red, has proactively warned the gaming community about fraudulent beta test invites circulating online. On April 16, CD Projekt Red utilized The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account to alert fans about these scams after receiving multiple reports.
Their tweet emphasized, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
CD Projekt Red also clarified that any future legitimate beta tests would be announced exclusively through The Witcher’s official social media channels and websites.
First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 made its debut at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist. This announcement sparked significant discussion within the gaming community, given that Geralt had been the central figure in the previous three games.
Following this reveal, VGC conducted an interview with The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, who addressed the fanbase's reaction to Ciri taking the lead role. Weber, acknowledging the fans' attachment to Geralt, stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed appreciation for the fans' support and understanding regarding the shift to Ciri as the lead character. Mitręga noted, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
CD Projekt Red has promised that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious installment in the series, introducing new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest news on The Witcher 4!
