Some players are finding a peculiar material in their inventory called Curio of the Nine. Its description states: “An enigmatic token of favor, bearing the markings of the Nine.”

The Nine are enigmatic beings who govern Unknown Space, but despite the Curio's connection to their lore, little else is known. Inspecting the item in your inventory reveals: “The Nine do not yet wish to disclose the purpose behind seeking your favor…”

So the Nine are keeping their intentions hidden, driving players online for answers. This might appeal to those deeply invested in Destiny 2 lore, but it’s an inconvenience for players who prefer a tidy inventory and just want to focus on gameplay.

Can You Get Rid of Curio of the Nine in Destiny 2?

Like most items in Destiny 2, you can discard the Curio of the Nine after obtaining it. The only catch is that it cannot be reclaimed. “While this item doesn't seem to have a current use, guard it carefully—it cannot be reacquired once discarded,” the item’s tooltip explains.

That may sound intense, but if you know anything about Destiny 2 lore, you understand the Nine are not to be trifled with. So it’s wise to hang onto the Curio of the Nine, at least for the duration of Heresy.

How Long Will Heresy Be in Destiny 2?

Even though Destiny 2 Episode: Heresy launched on February 4, 2025, this mandatory inventory item has players wondering how long they’ll have to carry it. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to estimate.

Keep in mind that Episodes normally consist of three Acts. Each Act typically runs for several weeks, sometimes over a month. Based on this pattern, Heresy should wrap up around summer 2025. An exact end date hasn’t been announced, so it could extend into the fall, though past Episodes suggest that’s unlikely.
