With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* introduces Essence Stones, essential for unlocking several new gameplay features. These stones come in various sizes and are crucial for enhancing your daily tasks within the game. Here's everything you need to know about finding, crafting, and using Essence Stones in *Fields of Mistria*.

Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines in *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones was while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60. However, these valuable chests can appear on any level across different biomes and floors. Be cautious, though; mimic enemies, which look like chests but deal damage upon interaction, are a common hazard.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more frequent, larger ones can be found with diligent exploration. If you struggle to find them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery in the mines.

The Stone Refinery, a new addition with the March 2025 update, allows you to craft Essence Stones in *Fields of Mistria*. Building this facility is part of a story quest where Adeline enlists your help alongside Olric and Errol. To construct the refinery, you'll need:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the Stone Refinery is up and running, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes. Each requires Stone and Essence, but the quantity varies based on the stone's size. Here’s a breakdown of the crafting requirements:
Tiny Essence Stone | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
Small Essence Stone | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
Medium Essence Stone | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
Large Essence Stone | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
Besides Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also enables crafting a range of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it an essential hub for gathering resources needed for various projects in Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update also brings the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, maximizing the duration of their effects.

The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. With an Essence Stone in use, this statue automatically pets all animals inside daily. You can find this rare item in a hidden cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible with the Dragon’s Breath spell. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues as needed.
Similarly, the sprinkler mechanic is unlocked via the Water Sprite Statue. Place it anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius, as long as an Essence Stone is active. You can craft multiple statues to cover more crops. The statue, along with its crafting scroll, is located on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Use Dragon’s Breath to access the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with future updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are likely to play an even more integral role in enhancing gameplay.
