The beloved board game Caverna: The Cave Farmers has made its digital debut, now available on Android, iOS, and Steam. Originally designed by Uwe Rosenberg (creator of Agricola) in 2013, this strategic farming simulation gets a modern digital treatment courtesy of German studio Digidiced.
The mobile version is priced at $11.99, with Digidiced currently offering significant discounts on their other digital board game adaptations including Terra Mystica, Stockpile, Gaia Project, Chai, and Indian Summer.
A Deluge of Decisions in Your Underground Kingdom
In Caverna, players manage a dwarf family building their underground empire. Starting with a simple cave, you'll make crucial choices about resource allocation - whether clearing forests for crops, raising livestock, mining precious ores, or crafting weapons for dwarven expeditions.
With a fixed number of rounds, every action carries weight. Victory depends on how effectively you've expanded your cavern system, developed resources, and managed your dwarf clan's activities throughout the game.
Digital Enhancements for Tabletop Veterans
The digital adaptation streamlines the game's complexity while preserving its strategic depth. Players can challenge AI opponents with distinct personalities or compete against up to six others online or locally. The app features asynchronous multiplayer with push notifications and weekly solo challenges with competitive leaderboards.
Notable quality-of-life improvements include a match replay system and visual customization options, allowing players to toggle between the original board game aesthetic or an enhanced 3D view.
