Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam
A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into East Asia, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been turbulent, facing criticism and multiple delays. The most recent delay pushed the release date to March 20, 2025.
According to Insider Gaming, a now-deleted Steam update revealed information about "Claws of Awaji." The DLC will reportedly introduce a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future
The leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, then postponed to February 14, 2025, the game's release is now set for March 20, 2025. Ubisoft cited the need for further polishing and refinement.
This delay coincides with uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, fueled by rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. The company has faced challenges recently, with several major titles receiving mixed reception and failing to meet financial targets.
