Adapting historical figures into video games is notoriously challenging, as evidenced by titles like Dante's Inferno. However, Antarah: The Game shows promise in successfully navigating this hurdle.
But who is Antarah? Often compared to King Arthur (though with key differences), he was a renowned poet-knight whose journey to marry his beloved Abla forms a significant part of his legend. The gameplay, reminiscent of Prince of Persia, features the hero traversing expansive deserts and cities, battling numerous enemies. While the mobile graphics are minimalist, the scale is impressive.
Despite its impressive scope (especially considering it appears to be a solo project), the game's visual variety seems limited. Trailers primarily showcase a very orange desert environment. While the animation is appealing, the narrative remains largely unclear, a crucial element for a historical drama.
