May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

Author : David Update:May 06,2025

It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has leaked. While nothing is confirmed by Sony yet, rumors suggest that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available as a free download for PlayStation players in May. The key art hints at the possibility of it being the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the 2014 original, but we'll provide confirmation as soon as we have official news.

PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms that offers a range of benefits, including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and member-exclusive discounts. It also features a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, though the monthly free games are accessible to all players, regardless of their subscription tier.

As speculated by members of the PlayStation subreddit (thanks, PushSquare), this could be a promotional move for the newly released Until Dawn movie. The movie, which hit theaters just before the weekend, didn't meet expectations, earning a 5/10 from IGN. In our review, we noted, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received the same score from us, with our review stating it was an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game by Supermassive Games was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.

In other news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. As a result, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
