Application Description

Learning to read Spanish is crucial, especially during the preschool and early elementary years, as it forms the foundation for all future educational and professional endeavors. Given that today's children are digital natives, embracing their affinity for computers and tablets can significantly enhance their learning experience, particularly in reinforcing or advancing their school-taught skills.

METHOD

Our method for learning to read Spanish through phonics is tailored for children aged 3 to 6 or 7, and even adults looking to refine their pronunciation. The curriculum is structured into a section for tracing letters and comprises 30 lessons that start with vowels and proceed through consonants and digraphs in the following order: L, M, S, T, P, N, D, F, H, C, Q, CH, G, GUE, R, -rr- - R, B, V, G, J, GE, GUE, Y, Z, CE, LL, X, K.

Each lesson includes 11 engaging games, each offered at two different difficulty levels. This approach is perfect for parents and educators seeking to practice and reinforce the first syllables and words in Spanish. Encourage the child to listen and tackle the exercises; full comprehension is not necessary at this stage.

Learning to read is a gradual process that may extend over a year. We recommend daily practice sessions of just a few minutes, revisiting previously covered material periodically, and always adjusting the type and difficulty of exercises to maintain a playful learning environment.

LEVELS

All games feature two adjustable difficulty levels, allowing children to progress at their own pace. Sessions can be paused and resumed at any time. As children successfully complete games, they earn virtual fruits, adding an element of fun and motivation.

The first level is designed for children as young as three, and sometimes even younger, with assistance from parents or educators. At this stage, solutions can be aided by the game's instructions. The second level is more challenging, encouraging children to solve problems independently while ensuring that learning remains an enjoyable experience.

As a parent or guardian, it's crucial to match the game's difficulty to your child's abilities without pressuring them to rush through levels or stages.

ABILITIES

Our program enhances the following skills:

  • Visual and auditory memorization
  • Identification and association
  • Discrimination
  • Understanding
  • Literacy

OPTIONS

From the home screen, users can:

  • Enable or disable background music
  • Choose to play in full-screen mode

Within the Tikis menus, additional options include:

  • Changing the font to uppercase, lowercase, or cursive handwriting
  • Enabling or disabling automatic activity, which switches to another game after a set number of exercises
  • Shuffling syllables to mix up the learning experience

ACHIEVEMENTS

You can create up to three profiles (avatars) for different children, tracking their progress across levels, including correct and incorrect responses, which are visually represented as a percentage in the form of fruit. Fruits serve as a fun motivator for continued play. When collected, they can be given to little aliens by clicking on the basket.

For a detailed overview of progress, press the reports button on the Tikis screen.
