Konami has celebrated the remarkable success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has now surpassed 2 million units sold.
The Silent Hill 2 remake, developed by Bloober Team, launched on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 8, 2024 (there is still no announcement for an Xbox Series X/S version). It reached the 1 million sales milestone just a few days later, potentially making it the fastest-selling game in the series' history, though Konami has not officially confirmed this record.
"Since its release, Silent Hill 2 has earned widespread critical acclaim, including several perfect review scores and numerous award wins and nominations, solidifying its status as a timeless classic in the horror genre," Konami stated.
IGN's review of the Silent Hill 2 remake scored it an 8/10, saying: "Silent Hill 2 offers an excellent way to experience—or return to—one of the most chilling settings in survival horror history."
The commercial triumph of the Silent Hill 2 remake will likely bolster Konami's ambitious plans for the franchise, which have expanded considerably in recent years. Projects like Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall are still in development, and the publisher may now consider remaking other classic titles from the series. Additionally, a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2 is also on the way.
Modders are also making impressive changes to the PC version of the remake, such as removing the hair sheen and the iconic fog, and even creating a "Sunny Hills" modification.
