Chess, a timeless two-player strategy game, is played on a classic chessboard comprising 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid. It's a beloved pastime for millions worldwide, enjoyed in homes, parks, clubs, online platforms, through correspondence, and in competitive tournaments.

Each player starts with 16 pieces, including one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The charm of chess lies in the unique movement of each piece type. Players maneuver their pieces to attack and capture their opponent's pieces, with the ultimate goal of achieving 'checkmate'—placing the opponent's king under an inescapable threat of capture. Victory can also be secured through the opponent's voluntary resignation, often when significant material is lost or when checkmate seems inevitable.
