Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) represent an intriguing evolution in the world of Bridge card games. Originating from Bridge Whist, these games serve as a pivotal step towards the development of Contract Bridge. Unlike their successor, Auction Bridge & IB feature distinct scoring systems, including trick scoring, bonus scoring, and penalty scoring, without the concept of vulnerability found in Contract Bridge.

While the rules for selecting trumps in Auction Bridge & IB are similar to Contract Bridge, they are notably less complex. The gameplay and laws also share similarities with Contract Bridge, providing a familiar yet distinct experience for enthusiasts. The dealer initiates the trump selection process and must commit to winning at least the odd trick in a trump suit or at No-trumps. Bidding higher involves aiming for more points rather than more tricks. For instance, a bid of 3 Spades (27 points) surpasses 4 Clubs (24 points).

Scoring for each trick above six is as follows:

• No-trumps: 10 points
• Spades: 9 points
• Hearts: 8 points
• Diamonds: 7 points
• Clubs: 6 points

Achieving a game requires accumulating 30 points.
