VNeID Application: Electronic Identification and Authentication

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, leverages population data for electronic identification and authentication purposes. This application is designed for individuals residing in or traveling to Vietnam.

Key Features and Benefits:

The VNeID app serves as a digital replacement for traditional documents, facilitating citizen identification in digital environments. It supports the development of digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society. Users can utilize the app for medical reporting and quick domestic travel declarations. Additionally, it aids authorities in tracking secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying the public.

Access Permissions:

By using the VNeID application, users consent to the following access permissions:

1. Internet Access: The app requires internet connectivity from the user's device.
2. Camera Access: The app accesses the camera to scan the QR code on the Citizen Identification Card (CCCD), streamlining the input of basic citizen information and enabling quick scanning at checkpoints for travel and medical declarations.
3. Media Access: The app accesses photos, videos, audios, and files on the device to store QR code images for verification at citizen checkpoints.
4. Notification Permissions: The app sends notifications to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection:

Users provide personal data, including medical information, domestic travel details, or information on behalf of others with their consent. Collected personal information includes:

• Full name
• Phone number
• Citizen identification
• Gender
• Year of birth
• Permanent address
• Nationality
• Health status
• Place of departure
• Destination
• Vehicle number plate
• Exposure to individuals with COVID-19

All information is collected with the user's permission through form submissions.

Users are responsible for their actions and the accuracy of the information they input.

Privacy and Copyright Protection:

The National Population Data Center, under the Ministry of Public Security, securely stores and manages user data. This data is exclusively used for COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, enhancing public health and disease prevention. It is not used for commercial purposes or to infringe upon private life. Data may be shared with Health Authorities and other relevant agencies to improve COVID-19 prevention measures.

The application developer does not collect or use user information for any purposes beyond those outlined above. They will not disclose any information that could harm users or engage in illegal activities affecting user privacy, in accordance with Vietnamese law and the application's policies.

• No Location Data Collection: VNeID does not collect location data.
• Anonymity: Users join the community anonymously. Only authorized agencies can identify those infected or suspected of infection due to close contact with COVID-19 cases for contact tracing purposes.
