Pesten With Cards, literally translating to "Bullying With Cards," is a beloved Dutch card game that shares similarities with international games such as Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, and Uno. The primary objective of Pesten With Cards is to be the first player to discard all of your cards. A crucial rule to remember is to declare "Last Card" before playing your final card to win the game. Failure to do so results in a penalty of drawing two additional cards.

Game Setup and Play

Pesten With Cards can be played with multiple decks, including jokers. Each player starts with 7 cards, while the remaining cards form the stock or draw pile. The top card of the stock is turned face up to start the discard pile. Players then take turns playing cards in a clockwise direction. If the initial card revealed is a "Pest-card," the dealer must execute its effect as if they had played it.

On your turn, you must play a card that matches the number or suit of the top card on the discard pile. Jokers and Jacks are versatile and can be played on any card. If you cannot play a card, you must draw one from the stock. If the drawn card is playable, you may choose to play it immediately or keep it in your hand.

Last Card Rule

When you have only one card left after playing, you must declare "Last Card" by clicking the "Last Card" button above your cards. This alerts other players that you are close to winning. Forgetting to declare "Last Card" before playing your final card results in a penalty of drawing two cards, and your last card will not be played. Incorrectly declaring "Last Card" also incurs the same penalty. You can press the "Last Card" button at any time, even when it's not your turn, to ensure you remember to declare it before playing your last card.

Winning the round involves playing your last card on the discard pile, but it must not be one of the special cards detailed below.

Special Cards and Their Effects

Special cards in Pesten With Cards have unique actions associated with them, which can vary based on regional rules. The game allows customization of these actions in the options menu to align with your preferred rules. Here are the common special card effects:

• Joker: The next player must draw 5 cards. If they have a joker, they can play it, forcing the subsequent player to draw 10 cards. Each additional joker played adds 5 more cards to be drawn. Players who draw cards cannot play them immediately; the turn passes to the next player.

• Two: The next player must draw 2 cards. If they have a two, they can play it, making the next player draw 4 cards. Each additional two played adds 2 more cards to be drawn. Optionally, a joker can be played on a two, adding 5 cards to be drawn. A two cannot be played on a joker. Players who draw cards cannot play them immediately; the turn passes to the next player.

• Seven: You must play another card on top of it. Remember to declare "Last Card" if playing a seven allows you to play your final card. If you cannot play another card, you must draw from the stock.

• Eight: The next player skips their turn, and the player after them plays. In a two-player game, playing an eight allows you to play another card immediately (similar to a seven).

• Ten: All players must pass one card from their hand to the player on their left. Click on the card you want to pass.
