South Park Season 27 Release Date Revealed in Topical Trailer

Get ready, because the boys are back in town! Yes, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it seems our beloved Colorado crew is tackling, well, the state of things – in their own unique, barely-coping way.

The much-loved animated series dropped a new trailer for the upcoming season, cleverly tricking the audience into thinking it was a sneak peek at a dramatic new show. With intense editing and suspenseful music, the trailer initially gave off ominous vibes. But then, in true South Park fashion, the gag was revealed when Stan's dad, Randy, and his sister Shelley appeared on screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asked her if she'd been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he quipped, showcasing the show's signature blend of humor and social commentary.

South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th. After the initial gag, the trailer shifted back to intense action, teasing several significant and topical moments expected in the new season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being pulled down, a P. Diddy appearance, and, of course, what seems to be another war with Canada. Longtime fans, or even those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.

The teaser also confirmed that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans entertained with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997. As we gear up for Season 27, it's clear that the show continues to push boundaries and engage with contemporary issues, all while keeping us laughing.
