The Epic Games Store is offering a beloved indie game and the latest Borderlands title as this week's free PC games.
This is a particularly noteworthy addition to Epic's long-running free game promotion, where the company releases a variety of titles for all Epic Games Store users at no cost every week. Starting now, PC gamers can add Playdead's breakout hit, Limbo, and Gearbox's Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Borderlands spinoff, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, to their personal libraries.
Both games are available to claim until next Thursday, June 5, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, after which they will no longer be free. Even if you don't frequently play on PC, it's worth logging into your Epic Games Store account to secure both titles for future enjoyment.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a Borderlands side story that launched in early 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. While previous entries in the series feature cooperative looting and shooting in twisted sci-fi environments, this spinoff immerses players in a fantasy world with several gameplay innovations, including new weapon types and deeper character customization, to keep the experience fresh. Partly thanks to its star-studded cast featuring Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes, Will Arnett, and others, we found Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands a worthy addition to the Borderlands universe, awarding it an 8/10 in our review.
Limbo, on the other hand, is a much more minimalist adventure where players guide a young child through a harsh, monochromatic world. It's a brief journey that HowLongToBeat estimates takes just over three hours to finish, yet it has left a lasting impact on gamers for nearly 15 years. We scored it 9/10 in our original review.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and Limbo follow last week's free Epic Games Store titles, which included Deliver At All Costs, Gigapocalypse, and Sifu. Once this week's games are replaced, a new set of free titles will be announced. For more details, you can read about why Gearbox was so pleased with its 2022 release that it declared it the start of a brand-new franchise.
