Tales of the Shire is currently scheduled for release on July 29, 2025. This marks the game's second official release date and third announced release window. Initially aiming for a 2024 launch, Wētā Workshop later announced a March 2025 release on X (formerly Twitter), before a further delay to July 2025 in February 2025.

The good news is that the PC and console versions are still planned for simultaneous release. Wētā's February 2025 statement explained the delays were necessary to refine the Tales of the Shire experience across all platforms. This contrasts with the staggered release of 2023's The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, which saw its console versions delayed significantly. The staggered release of Return to Moria was partly attributed to scope creep, with console ports announced late in development.

Fortunately, Tales of the Shire was designed as a cross-platform title from the outset, avoiding similar development bottlenecks, despite the delays.
