With the Nintendo Switch 2 set to launch in less than a month, the gaming industry is abuzz with discussions about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amid this, Take-Two Interactive, a prominent third-party publisher, expresses a strong sense of optimism about the upcoming console. During a recent Q&A session with investors following the company's full-year earnings report, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shared his enthusiasm for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Zelnick highlighted the improved relationship between Nintendo and third-party publishers, stating, "We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, and that's I think a bigger array of releases than we've ever offered before with a new Nintendo platform." He acknowledged past challenges in the Nintendo ecosystem but praised Nintendo's efforts to enhance support for third-party developers. Zelnick's comments suggest a positive outlook, emphasizing Take-Two's commitment to the platform due to its potential for success.
The four titles Take-Two is set to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 include Civilization 7 on launch day (June 5), the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and release dates yet to be announced), and Borderlands 4 on September 12. These choices are not surprising given Take-Two's history of publishing these franchises on the original Nintendo Switch. However, Zelnick's remarks hint at the possibility of additional releases in the future, particularly from Take-Two's extensive catalog. While GTA 6 seems unlikely to appear on the platform, there is speculation about the potential release of GTA V.
In a pre-investor call interview, Zelnick also discussed Take-Two's performance over the past quarter and provided insights into the development timeline of GTA 6, which has recently been delayed to next year.
