Squad Busters 2.0 Launches Major Revamp
Supercell marks Squad Busters' first anniversary with its most significant transformation yet. The 2.0 update arriving on May 13th represents a complete gameplay overhaul for the mobile brawler that hasn't quite achieved its projected popularity since its 2024 debut.
More Than Just Minor Adjustments
This update effectively reboots Squad Busters from the ground up. The development team has redesigned core mechanics including combat systems, movement controls, and win conditions to create a fundamentally different experience.
Game-Changing New Mechanics
The most dramatic changes focus on hero mechanics. Players now select a lead Hero from existing characters - if this Hero falls in battle, the match ends immediately. Combat has also been streamlined, allowing simultaneous movement and attacks for faster-paced, more aggressive matches.
Victory conditions have been simplified to focus solely on eliminating the opposing Hero rather than clearing all opponents. Some fans have noted similarities to Brawl Stars' gameplay formula with these modifications.
Streamlining the Experience
Supercell is removing several existing modes including:
- Doppelgangers
- Double Trouble
- Epic Overload
- Loot Machines
- Hatchling Herder
The update also brings adjustments to progression systems and cosmetic options. Players will receive compensation in Hero Points for affected content.
Rebooting the Vision
These sweeping changes reflect Supercell's urgency to refine Squad Busters' direction, as the game hasn't reached the popularity levels of their flagship titles. The May 29th anniversary celebration will feature special piñata events with opportunities to unlock the new Mortis Hero.
