DiG-iT! Games is introducing a seasonal update for its sliding puzzle title SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey, timed perfectly for Halloween. Originally released last August following a closed beta test in May of the previous year, the game continues to evolve with fresh content.
What’s New in SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey for Halloween?
Throughout October, players can swap standard puzzle pieces for two exclusive themed sets featuring pumpkins and ghosts. These limited-edition characters will be removed from the store on November 1st.
The spooky season also introduces new challenges to the gameplay loop. Similar to last year’s update, you’ll encounter fresh puzzles populated by these thematic characters, offering unique missions to complete.
A Fresh Approach to Sliding Block Puzzles
SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey combines cute visuals and classical music with strategic elements found in games like Shogi and Chess. The title features over 400 puzzles within the main campaign and more than 800 puzzles in total across all modes.
Early stages introduce simple mechanics to ease players into the game, while Challenge Mode unlocks later, demanding advanced problem-solving skills. For example, one puzzle requires navigating 11 pieces across just 13 board tiles, completing the task in exactly 45 moves.
As you progress, you collect music cards that gradually assemble a classical soundtrack complementing the vibrant 3D worlds. Jewel-toned characters traverse tile paths; some are restricted to single directions, potentially causing gridlock if an incorrect move is made.
DiG-iT! Games, the developer behind SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey, is a women-owned studio located in Bethesda, Maryland. The company focuses on blending innovation with accessibility, earning recognition for its award-winning Roterra series and the educational Excavate series.
