Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, presenting it as a top-tier smartphone. Although it closely resembles the earlier 2025 release, the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge stands out with its remarkably slim design, offering users an edge in portability and style.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge mirrors the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and equipped with a 200MP camera. The primary distinction lies in its chassis, which has been refined to a mere 5.8mm thickness, a significant reduction from the 8.2mm of the S25 Ultra. This thinner design not only enhances its sleek appeal but also makes it lighter, tipping the scales at just 163g.
Despite its slim profile, the S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, which is only slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch screen on the S25 Ultra. This combination of a large screen and a thin body raises questions about durability. Samsung addresses these concerns by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted to be more resilient than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its ability to withstand everyday stresses, such as being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops.
In line with its predecessors, the Galaxy S25 Edge integrates the "Mobile AI" suite that debuted with the Galaxy S24 and evolved throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables robust on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by reducing reliance on cloud-based services. Samsung has introduced innovative features that summarize notifications and news articles, adding convenience for users interested in quick information access.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for preorder, with the 256GB model priced at $1,099 and the 512GB version at $1,219. It comes in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slim smartphone, but only time will tell if it lives up to these claims.
