Pokémon TCG Pocket is giving away 1000 Trade Tokens to all players via the in-game Gifts menu. This giveaway coincides with their efforts to rework the trading system, a highly requested feature that has proven controversial.
The launch of Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading function hasn't been smooth sailing. Player feedback prompted developers to revisit and improve the trading mechanics. As a temporary measure, the 1000 Trade Tokens are being offered to compensate players. Trade Tokens were previously a necessary currency for card trading.
Developers previously announced plans to simplify trading and make acquiring the necessary currency easier. Many players criticized restrictions, such as trading limitations based on card rarity and the requirement for a trading currency.
To avoid the current issues, a simpler, more open trading system, or the absence of trading altogether, might have been preferable. While concerns about bots and exploitation are valid, strict limitations likely wouldn't deter determined players.
Hopefully, the trading rework will address player concerns. A well-implemented digital trading system could make Pokémon TCG Pocket a strong competitor to the physical card game.
