Niantic has announced the Pokémon GO Lunar New Year 2025 event, kicking off January 29th and offering players exciting opportunities to catch Lucky Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and earn valuable rewards. Pokémon GO celebrates its ninth anniversary in 2025, and this Lunar New Year event is one of several leading up to the summer and Pokémon GO Fest. Preceding the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova (February 21st-23rd in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, and globally in March), this event provides a chance to expand your collection.

The Pokémon GO Lunar New Year event runs from Wednesday, January 29th, 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 2nd, 8:00 p.m. local time. Niantic promises increased chances of obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trades and becoming Lucky Friends. Wild encounters will feature Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini, with boosted Shiny rates. 2km Eggs will hatch Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi.
