Lies of P Director Says Overture DLC Isn’t Connected to Base Game’s Massive Final Cutscene Reveal

Author : Finn Update:Apr 06,2025

Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for *Lies of P*, titled *Overture*, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about what new mysteries it might unveil. However, at the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN discovered one mystery that *Overture* won't solve: the intriguing final cutscene of the base game. For those yet to experience the conclusion of *Lies of P*, be assured that the cutscene hints at the future direction of the game's universe in a surprising twist, sparking widespread speculation among fans. Director Jiwon Choi confirmed that this particular scene isn't connected to the DLC, leaving fans to ponder its significance. Choi teased, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future," keeping the community on the edge of their seats.

With Neowiz already confirming a sequel to *Lies of P*, it's likely that the enigmatic cutscene is a teaser for *Lies of P 2*. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed here, the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, suggesting that future *Lies of P* content might intertwine with other public domain fairy tales. However, fans will have to wait beyond *Overture* for answers.

While *Overture* won't address the Dorothy mystery, Choi provided some insights into what players can expect from the DLC. He encouraged fans to replay the base game, noting, "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience. A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion." Choi also mentioned that some fans are already piecing together the clues, as he regularly follows fan theories online and finds some of them "quite close."

Choi shared additional details about *Overture*, revealing that it should take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. The DLC will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and will remain available until the end. As previously announced, *Overture* is a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the excitement for the release.
