Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

Author : Oliver Update:May 02,2025

Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts, get ready for some exciting news about pricing and availability. The eagerly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will be available at different price points in Japan and worldwide, reflecting the new gaming system's two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system and a Multi-Language System.

Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

The Japanese-language version of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be exclusively available in Japan, priced at approximately $330. In contrast, the Multi-Language System version, catering to a global audience, will be priced at $449.99. This significant $100+ price difference is largely due to the current weak yen, making it less attractive for tourists to buy in Japan. If you're in Japan and prefer a multi-language experience, you can still purchase the Multi-Language System version. However, the Japanese-language system is strictly for those with a Nintendo Account set to Japan, with Japanese as the only supported language and access limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For fans looking to enjoy the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Stay tuned for more details about this version, set to be unveiled on April 4.

Switch 2 Will Be Sold By Lottery At The My Nintendo Store

Securing your Nintendo Switch 2 might involve a bit of luck, as it will be available through a lottery system on the My Nintendo Store. Starting April 24, retailers and online shops across the nation will also offer reservations or lottery entries based on availability. To participate in the My Nintendo Store lottery, you'll need to meet certain criteria by February 28, 2025:

  • Accumulate at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch software (excluding demos and free software).
  • Maintain a cumulative subscription to Nintendo Switch Online for at least one year and remain an active subscriber at the time of application.

Keep an eye on the My Nintendo Store for more application details, which will be shared on April 4. Don't miss your chance to get your hands on the Nintendo Switch 2!
