In India, the charm of playing cricket in a narrow alley, known locally as a 'gully,' often surpasses the thrill of playing on a traditional field. Embracing this cultural phenomenon, an indie Indian studio named 5th Ocean Studios has launched their latest cricket game, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, into Open Beta on Android.
Not Your Typical Cricket Sim
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket revolutionizes the genre with its unique 4v4 multiplayer format, set amidst the bustling Indian gullies. This game marks the first-ever 4v4 street cricket experience, bringing the excitement of rooftop catches, dodging scooters, and even dealing with the classic 'nosy uncles' who shout about broken windows. For those who prefer a more intimate challenge, there's also a 1v1 mode.
The gameplay is enhanced with power moves and real-time voice chat, allowing players to communicate, taunt opponents, drop emojis during matches, and employ some cheeky strategies. The game's environments are authentically Indian, featuring live neighborhood settings complete with broken stumps, makeshift pitches, and unpredictable ball bounces off uneven walls.
Customization is a significant aspect of Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, offering players the chance to build their gang, dress them in unique outfits, and unlock various skins to stand out on the street.
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket Is Now in Open Beta
5th Ocean Studios is committed to expanding the game with numerous updates, including new street maps, fresh outfits, regular events, clan wars, and eventually, an esports mode. Players can look forward to leaderboards, daily and weekly challenges, and thrilling gang vs. gang showdowns.
Currently available only on Android, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket is set to expand to iOS and Steam, with full controller support and cross-platform play on the horizon. To dive into this unique cricket experience, download the game from the Google Play Store.
