The third round of 2024 LEGO Ideas reviews has wrapped up, with two new fan-created designs officially chosen to become actual sets: a colossal Godzilla build and a Tintin Rocket.
These new additions were revealed in a LEGO Ideas blog post confirming that the LEGO Godzilla set, originally submitted by MattE720 back in December 2023, has been greenlit for production. While specific details regarding design, pricing, and release date remain under wraps, this approval guarantees that Godzilla enthusiasts will receive their first dedicated LEGO set in the near future.
A LEGO Ideas Godzilla Set Is on Its Way
Source: LEGO IdeasLEGO has never before released a Godzilla set, making this one particularly special. Although the fan design won't match the final product exactly, it provides the foundational blueprint for the build. Given the numerous interpretations of everyone's favorite giant lizard across various films, creator MattE720 noted that his concept draws inspiration from more recent portrayals, specifically citing Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
While an exact piece count hasn't been disclosed, the design appears quite massive. (LEGO has previously demonstrated its ability to create gigantic dinosaur sets with its 3.5-foot-long T. Rex.) Since LEGO Ideas products are typically aimed at adult collectors, we can anticipate the final version will be a substantial build designed for the 18+ demographic.

Every LEGO Ideas set begins as a fan submission. Once an idea gathers 10,000 supporters, it enters the review stage—a comprehensive process involving multiple considerations. One of the primary challenges is securing intellectual property rights for any licensed theme. Consequently, something like a Tuxedo Cat may have an easier path to approval than items tied to major franchises if LEGO cannot reach a licensing agreement.
Alongside these newly approved sets, numerous other exciting LEGO Ideas projects are currently undergoing review. This pending list features a Monsters, Inc. - Boo's Door Set, the Planet Express Headquarters, and even your familiar friend Clippy from Microsoft Office.
