Slaying monsters is fun, but sometimes you need their parts, which means capturing them. Here's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer item to secure the catch.
Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and the monster exhibiting signs of weakness like limping or drooling.
Once weak, deploy a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades depending on your weapon and style.
Capturing the monster ends the quest, returning you to Base Camp.
How to Get Traps and Tranq Items
While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to carry your own. There are two trap types: Pitfall Traps (Trap Tool + Net [Spiderwebs or Ivy]) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor).
For tranquilizer items, craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. Combine Tranq Bombs with Throwing Knives or Normal Ammo to create Tranq Blades or Tranq Ammo.
