Capcom has cleverly teased fans with a subtle hint about Resident Evil 9 amidst a celebration of reaching an impressive 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. On April 25, the development team shared a celebratory video on social media, featuring Ada Wong in a tense exchange with a well-known villain, followed by scenes of Leon S. Kennedy surrounded by an infected crowd wearing party hats, making their way to a church.
The video transitions to a rock song with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and then shows Leon energetically fist-pumping. Behind him, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing." However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that when the sign is turned sideways, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," signifying the number 9.
While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem pointed out that a lower plank, crucial for forming the numeral, was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was deliberately added. This observation has sparked excitement and speculation among fans.
One fan remarked, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji, indicating their surprise and intrigue.
The teaser video can be viewed in its entirety below:

Adding to the excitement, Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, presumed to be Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi shared his challenges in developing the sequel: "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7], but I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
