Even though The Sims 4 is now a decade old, and the series itself marks its 25th anniversary, it continues to thrive. Last year alone, it attracted over 15 million new players. According to EA's Q2 earning report from late last year, when The Sims 4 was still a premium game, it took four years to reach 20 million unique players. But when it transitioned to free-to-play in 2022, it saw an explosive growth of 31 million new players right out of the gate, reaching a total of 85 million players by May 2024.
