Many have compared *Avowed* to Obsidian's *Skyrim*, but it's arguably closer in spirit to their *Outer Worlds*—a first-person RPG with a strong narrative focus. But a question lingers: can you share this fantasy adventure with others? The short answer is no. *Avowed* is a strictly single-player experience.
Does *Avowed* Support Multiplayer Co-op or PvP?
Avowed offers no multiplayer functionality whatsoever, neither co-op nor player-versus-player (PvP). While you'll have companions to aid you, these are non-player characters (NPCs), similar to The Outer Worlds. All enemies, regardless of strength, are AI-controlled. There's no invasion mechanic like in Sniper Elite, allowing other players to disrupt your game. The experience is entirely solo.
What Happened to *Avowed*'s Planned Multiplayer?
If you recall Avowed being advertised with co-op, your memory isn't faulty. Obsidian initially planned to include it. However, during development, the decision was made to cut multiplayer, citing a desire to focus on the core single-player experience. While co-op was initially used to attract investors, the final product stands as a focused, solo adventure.
Is There an *Avowed* Co-op Mod?
Currently, no public Avowed co-op mod exists. While the possibility remains, creating such a mod is significantly more complex than, say, transforming dragons into Macho Man Randy Savage. While Skyrim eventually received a co-op mod, it arrived years after release. Obsidian has also stated they have no plans to add co-op post-launch.
