In the action-packed world of *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power is key, and anointing your items is one of the advanced techniques at your disposal. Like its predecessor, *Path of Exile 2* offers a complex system for boosting your gear, which becomes available as you progress through the game.
How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Anointing your amulets and Waystones in *Path of Exile 2* requires a special resource known as Distilled Emotions. You'll unlock this feature later in the game, as these emotions are primarily obtained from Delirium Maps. If you're familiar with the original game, you might recognize Distilled Emotions as similar to Blight Oils. There are ten distinct types of Distilled Emotions you can collect: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The most straightforward method to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection of these emotions upon completion. Alternatively, you can obtain them through currency exchange and the trade market, offering more flexibility in your approach.
For those looking to enhance their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to spot. By combining three of the same type, you can upgrade to a higher-tier Distilled Emotion of that type. This method allows you to tailor your collection to suit your needs.
If you're up for a challenge, tackling Simulacrum waves can also yield Distilled Emotions. However, this method is less efficient for farming compared to Delirium Maps and requires a robust build to navigate the increased difficulty.
How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Currently, in the Early Access phase of *Path of Exile 2*, you can anoint both amulets and Waystones. To anoint an amulet, start by selecting a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. The choice of emotion here is flexible. Place the amulet in the central slot, then add a Distilled Emotion to each of the three slots below it. The specific emotions needed for the desired anointing effect are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on your keyboard or R3 on your controller to see the requirements.

The skills you choose to anoint will vary based on your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can re-anoint an amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt to your current build needs as the new skill will override the previous one.
For Waystones, the anointing process is similar but offers different effects that increase their difficulty while also improving the quality of loot you can obtain from them. Keep in mind that you cannot anoint items that are corrupted, whether they are amulets or Waystones.
With these steps, you're well-equipped to enhance your amulets through anointing, thereby boosting your build's effectiveness, or take on the challenge of anointing a Waystone to test your prowess in *Path of Exile 2*.
*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
