Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, this location was inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

The Deep Woods area becomes accessible after you break the Fire Seal and harness the new Dragon's Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines in *Fields of Mistria*. To accomplish this, you must first place four specific items on the Priestess' Fire Seal altar located at Floor 60 in the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. You can find the first three items scattered between floors 50 and 59, but acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor obtain the Sealing Scroll, you'll need to leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

After meeting these requirements, speak with Balor again, and he will inform you that the item will be available the next day. Once you have the scroll, you can proceed with the offering.

Typically, breaking magic seals leads to a brief dialogue with the enigmatic Priestess of the mines, culminating in the unlocking of a new biome. However, this time, the outcome deviates from the norm. The Priestess urgently requests you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health wanes, Caldarus emerges in his human form when you call for assistance, retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

The dragon then directs you to find him at his temple, bestowing upon you the Dragon's Breath spell. This powerful offensive spell can burn through the vines blocking the entrance to the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*. It's also useful for uncovering other hidden areas on the map. To use it, equip Dragon's Breath from the pause menu, stand in front of the entrance, and activate the spell to permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other areas.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus within his temple in the Deep Woods. This temple is situated north of the Eastern Road on your map, and accessing it requires the Dragon's Breath spell. Caldarus' precise location will be marked on your map, similar to other NPCs. You'll find him in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to cut down the obstructing stump. Continue north until you arrive at the temple where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked in *Fields of Mistria*, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to this area and visit Caldarus whenever you wish. Teleportation costs only 10 Essence, making it a convenient alternative to traveling on foot or horseback.

Additionally, you can interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit form.
