Escape from Death

Seize Death's Dominion and Shatter His Diseased Kingdom!

Steal Death's power and break free of his corrupt realm! Conceal your life-force from wandering spirits as you wield necrotic arts, maneuver through court conspiracies, reshape destiny in the Afterlife—and perhaps ascend to rule its shadowed throne.

"Escape from Death" is a 256,000-word interactive gothic horror experience by Tova Näslund. This immersive text-based narrative thrives on your limitless imagination—no visuals or soundscapes necessary.

While your mortal shell lingers between worlds, your essence has been cast into Death's grotesque hereafter. Here, tyranny festers under his eternal rule. The accursed Penitents—souls warped into bestial forms through divine debt—grovel at society's base. Above them strut the Elect: Death's favored sycophants bathing in decadent privilege.

Yet darker rot consumes this underworld. Performers vanish from pleasure palaces, safe havens burn, and a nameless plague spreads through the spirit realms. This crisis threatens all—but offers your chance to strike. At reality's bleeding heart stands Clockwork Hall: Death's court and the wellspring of departed souls. Storm its gates amid the chaos to:

• Annihilate Death's reign
• Flee back to the living world
• Or claim the Afterlife's obsidian throne

Your Journey Through the Necropolis

• * Define your essence: male, female, or beyond; loving freely across the spectrum
• * Seduce fellow lost souls: your brooding hybrid guide, a radical avian rebel, Death's disillusioned warrior, or a compassionate plague doctor
• * Command necrotic sorcery: pierce the veil between realms, harvest mortal memories, and divine secret desires
• * Choose your faction: topple hierarchies with the oppressed Penitents, exploit the Elect's decadence, or bridge both worlds
• * Scheme or conquer: lurk unseen in Death's shadow, weave webs of spies and alliances, or forge legend through overt rebellion
• * Reshape eternity: preserve the status quo, crown a new deity, or drape yourself in Death's mantle

Will you escape damnation, or become damnation itself?
